Up until now, I have let a lot of people make decisions for me because it was easier. I am so indecisive with everything from pizza toppings to my future plans, which made it easier for me to take the backseat and let the choices of others dictate my life. As you can probably imagine, this really isn’t a great way to live. This summer was a pretty transformative time for me. One day in June, I looked in the mirror and didn’t know who was staring back at me. This was because I wasn’t taking charge of my life and prioritizing my wants and needs.

So I made the decision to make a bold change, and be on my own, forcing myself to listen to my inner voice to guide me where I needed to be. I thought it was only fitting that I had a shirt that spoke to my new-found self awareness and boss mentality. This My Own Boss shirt is from Fashion Nova Curve, and I paired it with this What’s in The Envelope Skirt. I plan on sporting this cute crop top with jeans, sweats, shorts, and skirts, as it’s really versatile and simple, but still makes a huge statement.

Are you living your truth? Are you your own boss? Take a second to look inward to make sure you are on track and in tune with yourself! You won’t regret it!

SIZING INFO: I am wearing a 2x in the What’s in The Envelope Skirt and My Own Boss shirt, which is my usual size, and they fit perfectly.

I know I’ve been slacking lately, but hopefully this adorable fall look will make up for it! This sweater is my absolute favorite. I picked this Bell Sleeve Sweater with Trim up from Eloquii a month ago, and I have been dying for it to get a little bit cooler outside so I could wear it. I love everything about the sleeves from the bell shape to the stripes. UGH! Isn’t it just the cutest thing?! And it’s super comfortable. I’ve worn this sweater to work with a pair of dress pants, out to the farmers market with a pair of jeans, and now with this pleated faux-leather skirt.

You may have seen this leather skirt once or twice on the blog, as I have had it for about two years now, and it makes an appearance every once in a while. I have recently renewed may interest in pleated midi skirts after shying away from them for so long. Although I bought this pleated leather midi skirt in Tampa, Florida at a boutique, I found a similar one at Fashion to Figure, and I will include some more to choose from in the shop widget below!

I couldn’t resist putting these two pieces together in the name of fall. I think they pair well together, don’t you?

SIZING INFO: I’m wearing a size 22/24 in the Bell Sleeve Sweater with Trim, which is two sizes larger than my usual size. However, I sized up because I wanted the sweater to have a loose fit.

I think this might be the most on-trend look I’ve ever put together. The denim chevron skirt and the one shoulder, striped blouse is giving me all the heart eyes.

I saw this chevron mini denim skirt in the windows of Forever 21’s Michigan Avenue store in Chicago, and I immediately ran to the plus size section to find it. I had nothing else like the skirt in my closet, and I was obsessed with the chevron stripe pattern. Sure enough, I found it. I scored this one shoulder, striped bow blouse at Eloquii during a shopping trip with my mom. She originally picked out the top for her to try on, but when I saw it on her, I went to go pick up the blouse in my size. So, now my mom and I have matching blouses. LOL. I love the versatility and potential in each of these garments. I could wear the skirt during the last couple of days of summer with a cute tank top, but I could also pair it with some tights or knee-high boots in the fall. I love this blouse for an evening cocktail hour, Sunday brunch, or even a date night look. While the both of these pieces have the potential to be worn with anything, they also go great together. What do you think?

SIZING INFO: I am wearing a 2X in the chevron denim mini skirt, which is my usual size, and it fits perfectly. I am wearing a size 18 in Eloquii’s one shoulder bow blouse, which is my usual size, and it fits well.

A Feminine Edge

“Can I wear this to work? Or is it too sexy?” This is the first thing I asked the sales team at Eloquii when I tried on this dress in their brand new Chicago store, located in The Shops at Northbridge. Although I have also asked my friends, the jury is still out on this. I love pieces that can be worn for both work and play, and even though no one can give me a straight answer on whether this piece accomplishes that, I think it can definitely pass for office-appropriate.

It’s all about the little details in this dress: The ruffles, the lace, and the tie waist. Eloquii’s Lace Overlay Long Sleeve Dress with Ruffle Sleeves is a mix between delicate and fashion-forward. Since I am short, the dress is a little long on me, but I like that I can control the length with the tie waist feature. In this shoot, I bloused the dress a bit to give it a shorter look. So what do you guys think? Is this work appropriate? Or should I save it for a first date (or third) look? Am I overthinking this? (Most likely, yes)

SIZING INFO: I am wearing a size 18 in Eloquii’s Lace Overlay Long Sleeve Dress with Ruffle Sleeves, which is a size larger than my usual size, and the dress fits perfectly. I wanted the dress to fit a little loose around my body, which is why I sized up.

Charlotte Russe Wide Calf Boots Review

Every year around this time, I am always on the hunt for over-the-knee boots. And once I find a pair that fit perfectly, I order them in every color. However, if you are curvy and have thick calves—like me—you know that finding the perfect pair of over-the-knee boots is a REAL struggle. I plan on keeping you all in the loop when I score the perfect pair, and I will be sure to share my shopping secrets!
So for the first over-the-knee find this fall, I introduce to you, Charlotte Russe‘s Wide Width Over-The-Knee Boots. Not only do these boots have a wide fit in the shoe itself and in the calf, but they also boast a gold heel. Even though these boots have a little heel on them, they are super comfortable and easy to walk in. I paired the boots with Charlotte Russe’s Plus Size Refuge Skin Tight Legging Jeans and this Plus Size Shaker Stitch Lace-Up Sweater. This is going to be one of my favorite fall looks for sure.
SIZING INFO: In the Plus Size Refuge Skin Tight Legging Jeans, I am wearing a size 18, which is a size larger than my usual size, but a size 16 would have fit perfectly. The jeans are really stretchy and thin, so I would say they are pretty true to size. In the Plus Size Shaker Stitch Lace-Up Sweater I am wearing a 2x, which is my usual size, and the sweater fits perfectly. The sweater has a bit of a cropped fit to it, so if you want it to be a little longer, I would suggest sizing up.

Is Fall Chub Rub a Thing?

It’s officially fall here in Chicago, and I can’t be more excited. Fall is my favorite time of year because, well, let’s face it: Chub rub makes me dread the warmer, summer months—so much so that I countdown to the end of summer. I’ve tried many things to combat chub rub, and just because summer is over, it doesn’t necessarily mean the chafing will stop. I love wearing sweater dresses, like this one, during fall, which means chub rub still persists. However, I may have found the perfect solution so that I can go forth confidently wearing all the cute, fall dresses.

I recently discovered Thigh Society’s High Rise Anti-Chafing Slip Shorts, and they are a total game changer when it comes to avoiding chub rub. The anti-chafing shorts are very soft, light and breathable, plus they wick moisture away. I prefer wearing them in fall because most of my dresses for this season are longer in length, and the shorts don’t show through at all. Another added benefit to wearing these shorts is more coverage! In Chicago, the wind can get crazy, and when I am wearing loose skirts, well, it’s a recipe for disaster. So, I love that Thigh Society protect me and provide more coverage on windy days.
I also love that the brand has a focus on body positivity, talks about chub rub as a perfectly normal thing (which it is) and features women of different shapes and sizes on their website.
Now, onto the outfit, shall we? My ensemble is an entirely recycled look, meaning that everything I am wearing, came from my fall storage box in the closet. See this look (The Monochromatic Look), which incorporates this sweater dress. See this look (Top Knot), which showcases these taupe booties. Lastly, see this post (A Fashion-Filled Weekend With Meijer), showing where I got this shawl.
SIZING INFO: I am wearing a size 2x in Thigh Society’s High Rise Anti-Chafing Slip Shorts, which is my usual size, and they fit perfectly! These shorts do stretch quite a bit, but they are true to size. They don’t ride up and didn’t give me any muffin top. They were actually so comfortable that I forgot I had them on.

This post is sponsored by Thigh Society. Marnie, the company’s founder and self-described Chief Anti-Chafing Crusader, started Thigh Society after she was tired of wearing biker shorts, constantly re-applying anti-chafing creams, and squeezing into tight shapewear after none of those methods worked. Thank you for supporting the brands that make Natalie in the City a possibility.

When I first spoke with the Eloquii team about their plans to open a brick and mortar store in Chicago, I was so excited, and I couldn’t wait for the store to open. I can’t believe that I can now take a stroll over to Eloquii whenever I want—WHICH WAS THREE TIMES LAST WEEK—and shop clothing that fits me so well and adds an edge to my wardrobe. Located in The Shops at North Bridge in downtown Chicago, the new store is so welcoming and the team makes every woman who walks through the door feel special.

The grand opening celebration was held last week, and it’s really one of the first time that Chicago-based plus size fashion bloggers were able to get together, meet each other, and shop Eloquii pieces in store. It was a great feeling to be around other plus size women who love the brand as much as I do.

I also got the opportunity to take my mom into the store when she was here visiting a week ago, and she was so impressed with the trendy looks and the overall vibes. She felt special, and all of the clothes she tried on fit her well—these are moments that plus size women hardly ever experience. I can’t stress enough how important it is to me to have a store that caters to my body type and makes me feel like a VIP instead of shooing me off to a dark corner where there are a select few plus size garments.

In honor of the store’s grand opening, I am wearing all Eloquii everything. I tucked this Cutout Shoulder Top With Bow Detail into the Pleated Midi Skirt—which also comes in green, yellow, and black—and topped the look off with a pair of lace up gray heels! I was a little apprehensive about rocking a pleated skirt because in the past, I have always felt that they were unflattering. But of course, since Eloquii knows how to dress the plus size figure to a T, the pleated skirt is very flattering and gorgeous! Take a risk!

SIZING INFO: I am wearing a size 16 in the Pleated Midi Skirt, which is my usual size, and it fits perfectly. I am wearing a size 18 in the Cutout Shoulder Top With Bow Detail, which is one size larger than my usual size. I recommend sizing up with tops that don’t have stretch in them like this one.

Let me start off this post by saying that I feel hot AF in this dress! I have a few garments like this one  in my closet that feel like pure magic as soon as I slip them on. Every girl needs that go-to dress or outfit for those fun nights out with her girls, and this is the newest addition to my party dress list.

However, I can’t help but notice that there is indeed similar qualities among the dresses I deem special enough for a night out: They all incorporate the lace-up trend and they are suede.

So let’s talk about this dress that was made to make you feel like a bombshell, shall we? This Forever And Ever Dress from Fashion Nova Curve has some of the cutest details. I love the cargo-style pockets on the front of the dress, and, of course, the lace up detailing through the center of the entire dress. This dress is super sexy, and it can be worn all by itself, or you could pair it with a duster coat for a more modest touch. Either way, This dress will be in rotation this fall for many occasions. The dress looks really short on the model, but even with my booty, the dress is a decent length, and it doesn’t feel too short.

SIZING INFO: I ordered a 2x in this dress, which is my usual size, and it fits perfectly. The dress is very stretchy and forms to your figure. I would suggest ordering your usual size!

Hi lovelies! I’m so sorry I ghosted on y’all last week. I have had a hectic past two months, and for some reason, last week, I had to step away from everything just to keep my sanity. I took to Instagram to explain my situation on Friday via my Instastories. Basically, a lot has happened within the past couple of months, and I have had to focus a lot of the energy I usually put toward my blog on to other things like moving, finding a new apartment, and grieving an ending relationship. Not blogging or posting to Instagram allowed me to relax a little bit, but I also missed it, and I didn’t feel like myself completely.

So this week, I’m back, and I am here to stay (and slay). My first outfit post this week is about this Project Runway Romper from Fashion Nova Curve. You all know that I was a little hesitant to rock rompers at first, but this summer, I have turned over a new leaf, and I’m all about them. This romper, in particular, is extra special because of the detailing on the sleeves. I love how the left arm of the garment laces up and the grommet detailing continues throughout the top of the romper. It’s definitely an interesting take on the average romper, and it’s very comfortable. If you love this romper and you’re looking to score the same exact one, you can use my code “NATALIEXCRAIG” for 15% off your next Fashion Nova purchase.

SIZING INFO: I am wearing a size 2X, which is my usual size, and the romper fits perfectly! The garment does stretch a bit, and the material is very soft.

Grab your heels ladies, we’re getting girly on the blog today! But first, let me start with an update. If you haven’t noticed, my hair is blonder than usual—much blonder! I visited my fabulous hair stylist Anastasia Amico last week and we took my hair blonder than we ever have before. To be honest, it took me quite a bit of time to get used to my hair being this blonde, but I absolutely love it!

And now onto the outfit, shall we? I wore this look to brunch this weekend, but I imagine that this outfit would be perfect for a wedding, too! I’m sporting the new Society + Anne Lace Skirt, which also comes in black! The skirt has an elastic waistband with a hidden zipper and it also stretches for comfort. I really love the outer lace shell and how it’s a little longer than the inner lining. You can score 10% off this skirt by using the code “natinthecity” at checkout! To top off the look, I paired the skirt with this Chiffon Ruffle Blouse and an Eyelash Lace Push-Up Plunge Bra from Torrid. Check out the skirt on one of my best blogger friends, Bianca Karina!
SIZING INFO: I am wearing a size 18/20 in the Society+ Anne Lace Skirt, which is a size larger than my usual size. The skirt lining stretches, but the outer shell does not. I would recommend, ordering one size larger than your usual.

Don’t you sleep better at night knowing that there is a form-fitting, sexy body con dress just waiting for you in your closet, and in a moment’s notice you can slip it on and feel like a total goddess? OK. This may be a little (understatement) dramatic, but I really cant express the satisfaction of having a dress that hugs every curve just right. And I’m back in my element, which is only wearing black and white. Hah! Embracing color was fun for a while, but I’m digging the black and white details of this dress.

This Enzo Knit Dress from Fashion Nova Curve is a simple, yet bold garment. I hear that plus size women should stay away from stripes—especially horizontal ones—but I’m saying, “F that!” The difference in the thickness of the lines creates an amazing silhouette, and creates a very flattering shape on a curvy figure. This dress is perfect for a dinner date, the club, or just for a day of running errands. But guess what? I also wear it to work? By pairing the dress with a chiffon-like button up dress, it makes the garment more modest, but also allows the stripes to peak through. And you ladies know that I am all about a versatile garment!

SIZING INFO: I am wearing a size 2X in the Enzo Knit Dress, which is my usual size. The dress fits perfectly, however, I wish it was a little tighter. After wearing the dress all day, the material stretches out and doesn’t fit as close to my body as it did at first. I would order one size smaller than usual.

Chic Palm Romper

I’ve been trying to incorporate more rompers into my wardrobe lately, especially because I used to think they were the devil and the most unflattering garments to sweep through fashion. As more and more plus size brands are taking the trend and translating it into different variations, I’m finding that I’m more open to sporting rompers.
This Chic Plus Palm Floral Romper is from City Chic. The brand also offers many of their styles at Macy’s, which is where this little number came from. You all know how much I’ve gravitated toward tropical floral prints this summer, and I’m stoked to have another addition. While they aren’t always the most functional, I love off the shoulder garments like this one. Exposed shoulders are so chic and sexy, but I just wish there was a better way to make the arms of the romper stay put. Does anyone have any magic tricks or tips? My comment section is open!
SIZING INFO: I’m wearing a size 16 in this romper, which is my usual size, and it fits perfectly! The sleeves are a little tight, but have elastic in them to provide a little bit of stretch.
