I took a chance. I found these plus size trousers stuffed between horrendous corduroy pants in the clearance section of Marshall’s (THESE Alfani Printed Palazzo Pants are a dead ringer). They were striped and had a loose and wide leg fit—they were like nothing I’ve ever worn or have ever wanted to. But something told me to try them on. I twirled around in the dressing room, and struck pose after pose wondering, “What kind of top would I wear with this?” You all know showing off my little tummy pouch has been an insecurity of mine since I can remember, but I couldn’t see myself wearing these pants with a shirt that wasn’t cropped or tucked in. They were only $20, so I ended up saying “Fuck it,” and bought the damn thing. And apparently striped plus size pants are ALL THE RAGE these days because I was able to find more than 30 pairs of striped pants that are similar to these. I included them in the shop widget below for you!
Now, fast forward to last week when I had a blogging event to attend and I thought these wide-leg, striped pants would make the perfect look. But again, I found myself wondering what shirt I would wear. I tucked in tank tops and T-shirts, threw on bralettes, and even played with the idea of wearing a cape. However, nothing seemed to work just right. I almost gave up on the pants until I remembered this Elbow Flounce Sleeve top from Eloquii. Although this blouse is one of my favorites, I never even thought about pairing it with these pants. As soon as I tucked the top in, I knew this look was the winner. And it was even a hit among you all! I got messages on Instagram as soon as I posted the full look asking about my pants and my bag! While I did shop the pants on clearance and I cannot find the exact ones in stock, I have included some just like mine in the shop widget below! SIZING INFO: I am wearing a 1X in these Zac & Rachel pants, which is one size smaller than my usual size, but they fit perfectly because they were made to be oversized. I am wearing an 18 in the elbow flounce top from Eloquii, which is one size larger than my usual size and it fits perfectly. I ordered one size larger because I wanted the top to fit looser.
