This post is for all of the women who don’t feel sexy in their own skin. I just wanted to tell you that you aren’t alone. According to a recent Dove survey, 96% of the women they interviewed said they would not use the word “beautiful” to describe themselves. Let that sink in. And guess what? I’m willing to bet you that most of the women you idolize on social media as “goals,” also struggle with their self esteem and self perception from time to time.
It took me a while to realize this, even though I have observed how much women question themselves and how little credit they accept when compliments and praise are given pretty much my entire life. But I realize that society has taught us not to value ourselves, and that it’s a lot harder to find your value after years/decades of being taught you didn’t have any. It’s also hard to find beauty within yourself when you don’t live up to or look like the constant images of women shown in the media.
One of the main reasons I keep this blog up on a consistent basis is because I know that it empowers women across the world by showing them a different side of beauty. And while I may preach about confidence and self love, I struggle with self esteem and confidence, too. It’s important for you all to know that, too.
So in an effort to show you all another side of beauty, I decided to turn my usual Thursday outfit post up a notch by posing in this Curvy Couture Tulip Allover Lace Push Up. I’m also wearing this sheer Milan Shadow Striped Mesh Duster from Fashion to Figure, which is so sexy, but I can also pair it with jeans and a cute top for everyday wear! I have always known that fashion and clothes have played a huge role in my journey to finding self love. But it still amazes me how clothing can truly transform my mood and perception. I hope that you all find the same comfort and confidence in fashion that I do.
Love you ladies! XO
