Since I’ve been confined to my apartment for the past couple of months, I’ve been looking for ways to remain confident. As a petite and plus size woman, I rarely ever find skirts, pants, or dresses that fit me the way they were designed to fit the average person. Almost very time I make a purchase, I’m making alterations. And being a plus size woman makes finding clothing that fits a short figure even harder as most petite sizes don’t go above a size 12. However, there have been some plus size brands who have come out with “short” and petite sizing, like Universal Standard.

When I first began having the desire to wear snake skin, I wondered if it was just me or if everyone around me was feeling the craze, too. Sure enough, snake skin can be found everywhere this season: from wide width shoes to plus size bodysuits. So it’s inevitable that you and I are going to end up with something snake skin—whether we like it or not.

While I did buy some snake skin booties and a bodysuit, I was still craving another item of clothing in the same print.

If I told you that I picked these pants out myself…would you believe me? Given the fact that I hate florals, you would think that I would have avoided these pants like the plague. However, it’s quite the contrary. I was actually drawn to these pants from Pink Clove instantly.

There are some rare occasions that I will wear florals, one of those is if the florals are muted or monochromatic. Given that the flowers on these Navy Floral Wide Leg Trousers where all navy and white (or almost black), they were alright in my book.

I am constantly on the hunt for jeans that fit and feel like leggings. There is nothing worse than sliding into a pair of jeans that don’t have the right amount of stretch to them. All of my jeans must be stretchy and comfortable to wear all day. I have a lot of go-to places where I can find jeans that fit the bill every time. But as more brands begin to offer plus sizes, it seems as though it’s harder to find jeans that fit my short frame and show off my curves with form-fitting material, rather than hiding them with looser-fitting styles.

I’ve been seeing athletic wear make a huge jump into mainstream fashion beyond just the athleisure trend of sweatpants with heels or full on tracksuits. These jeans are a perfect example of my observation. I don’t own anything like them, and given the chance a couple of years ago, I may have been like “Ew I would never wear those. Ever.” But here we are, and I’m in love.
